The inauguration of the 2022-2023 academic year took place on October 7 at the Augustinian Patristic Institute in Rome
After the greetings of the Rector of the Pontifical Lateran University, Dr. Vincenzo Buonomo, and the Prior General of the Order, Father Alejandro Moral, it was the President of the Institute, Father Giuseppe Caruso, who gave the keynote address in which some aspects related to the memory of the past academic year and the challenges that the institution has for this year and next year were addressed. He also had the opportunity to refer to other aspects related to current affairs, such as the role of the Church in today's world and the war in Ukraine, where he made an appeal for peace on behalf of the Institute.
This was followed by a round table discussion on the central theme of the day: Gli apocrifi: una bibbia "altra"? This topic brought together Professors Massimo Gargiulo, professor at the Pontifical Gregorian University, and Alberto D'Anna, from the University of Roma Tre, both of whom are also professors at the Augustinian Patristic Institute.
Moderated by Professor Francesca Cocchini, the conversation addressed the current state of research on the apocryphal writings of Christian antiquity. An "open, complex subject, which includes aspects and problems that require a specific bibliography" and which occupied these experts in the field in an interesting discussion with the audience that ended in an agape with the attendees.
